Visiting The Lake District

The Lake District is a popular, beautiful place many of us love and as Easter is right around the corner, we thought it might be the right time to give you some hints and tips to get the most out of your visit.

With all the baby lambs in the fields and on the fells please brush up on your Countryside Code.

Please follow the signs and stick to the path which are there to keep you and animals safe. Use gates and styles to stay on the path and do not climb over the walls. Even though the walls look like they can be climbed they can be unsteady, and the stones can be sharp.

If you are walking with a dog, please remember to keep it under control, in your line of sight and clean up after them. Please keep your dog on a lead if there are signs that say so or in the presence of livestock. If you feel threatened by the livestock let your dog go, do not risk getting hurt protecting your dog.

If you are having a picnic, please make sure to take your litter and any belongings with you. Please do not light fires even if there are signs of previous fires. Only use disposable BBQ’s where signs state you can. Please remember not to feed any animals. Feeding wild animals or farm animals can make them very ill.

If you are driving or cycling when you visit the Lake District remember that some roads are narrower than you may be used to. Slow down and stay alert. Animals, cyclist, walkers, or other road users may be on the road so take extra care when driving on unknown roads. You may need to slow down, or stop for livestock and please give horseback riders extra room.

We hope you have lots of fun and make sure to keep checking the weather as it doses rain a lot here. The tides around Morecambe Bay are very dangerous so please click here to find the tide time table.

If you are not able to make it to the lakes over the holidays you don’t have to miss out with our Escape to The Lakes Trio. An amazing pack of three that smells just like the lovely outdoors.
